The Flexible Service System (FSS), a feature of newer vehicles, serves as a “wrench light” on your dashboard, in the instrument cluster. The FSS calculates in both miles and time, how long before your next oil change is due; it essentially is letting you know when it’s time for regular maintenance service.
While monitoring the quantity and condition of your engine oil, the FSS may extend internal service, averaging about 10,000 mile service intervals, without sacrificing the performance and protection you expect from your Mercedes-Benz.
The FSS light accommodates service requirements created by your driving style. It evaluates engine temperature, oil level, vehicle speed, engine idle speed, distance driving and time elapsed since your last oil service. After you have reached approximately 2500 miles of 30 days from requiring service, the dashboard readout will display a 10 second message telling you when your vehicle is due for service. The advanced version of the Flexible Service System (FSS) also alerts you as to when your oil is below minimum or above maximum level.
In addition to ‘A’ or ‘B’ services, you will need to check the following items not only on a regular basis, but also, prior to any long trip you may have planned:
- Engine oil level and conditions
- Coolant level brake fluid level
- Air filter condition, clean or not
- Tire pressure and condition
- Wiper blades and windshield washing fluid
You are welcome to visit us at Autohaus Burlingame where we will check and add fluid levels at absolutely no cost to you.
We appreciate the opportunity to meet with you and the privilege to serve you.
